In order to support the Social Forestry programme implementation in East Kalimantan, the Samarinda Environmental and Forestry Education and Training Center (BDLHK Samarinda) together with FORCLIME conducted a training on honey bee farming on 8-10 October 2019 in Kampung Batu Rajang, Berau District. Objective of the training was to improve the skills of farmers in designing and developing honey bee farming. The 30 participants are members of the Forest Farmer Group in Kampung Batu Rajang. From the training, participants gained some knowledge, such as using equipment for bee farming, techniques on honey harvesting, postharvest management, product marketing. At the end of the training, BDLHK Samarinda and FORCLIME handed five boxes containing bee colony (Trigona itama) as a stimulant for honey bee farming.

In conjunction to the bee farming training, a training on agroforestry was also carried out in Batu Rajang village. 30 members of the Forest Farmer Group participated the training. During the training, participants learned about techniques on agroforestry design and development. In addition, participants also gained knowledge about policies related agroforestry development, designing agroforestry plots, and calculating costs for agroforestry development.
The scheme of Social Forestry Programme that is currently carried out in Batu Rajang is Forestry Partnership. The scheme is a form of cooperation between local communities and forest managers, which can be forest concession holders, environmental service holders.

The East Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service conducted a meeting to disseminate and provide technical guidance concerning 2020 profit sharing from reforestation fund (DBH SDA DR) on 9 October 9 in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The event, supported by GIZ and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), was attended by 120 participants representing all Forest Management Units (KPH) in East Kalimantan, as well as representatives of the North, West and Central Kalimantan forestry services. Objective of the event was to explain the opportunities for using the revenue-sharing of natural resource fund from the reforestation fund (DBH SDA DR), which can also be used to support KPH activities related to forest and land rehabilitation.

During his presentation, the Head of Economy of the Regional Development Planning (Bappeda), Saur Paseroan, said that KPH development could contribute to poverty reduction. On the meeting, other resource persons were representatives from the Ministry of Finance (Ardimansyah) and the Planning Bureau of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Teguh Prio Adisulistyo), and Joko Tri Haryanto from the Fiscal Policy Agency.

At the end of his presentation, Joko Tri Haryanto provide information about other financing opportunities for forestry sector development, particularly for KPH development, such as: Green Sukuk, Green Climate Fund (GCF).

On October 1st and 2nd 2019 Indonesian-German government negotiations were held in Berlin, as done regularly every second year. In the process, a comprehensive agreement could be reached on the future projects to be implemented in Indonesia and their financial volume. Subsequently, parts of the Indonesian delegation had the opportunity to participate in cluster-specific side events. Since the Environment and Forestry- cluster was supposed to inform about German forest management structures, business processes as well as the manifold tasks of Forest Management Units (FMU), FORCLIME organised and implemented a field trip accordingly.

Thus a group consisting of 1 representative of the Indonesian National Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) and 4 members of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) accompanied by a FORCLIME employee set off for the German federal state of Hesse on 3rd October to visit FMU Hanau-Wolfgang near Frankfurt. Although this day was a public holiday a guided tour through the wildlife park Klein-Auheim, a facility belonging to the FMU Hanau, could be arranged. On the following day, the director of the Forest Management Unit provided comprehensive information on the Hessian Forest Enterprise in general and the FMU Hanau in particular during a visit to his office. He then explained and demonstrated the company's strategy for sustainable management of the regional forests on the occasion of a field trip. Finally he introduced the visitors from Indonesia to the Provincial Forest Tree Seed Centre, which is an institution under supervision of the FMU as well.

On the last day of the stay in Germany the group took the opportunity to go on a city walk through Frankfurt in order to take some tourist impressions back to Indonesia. Here, some aspects of Frankfurt's Old Town and the atmosphere on the banks of the Main attracted particular interest.
