The Center of Research and Development on Forest Products of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry conducted an event to disseminate its research results and innovations on forest products on 15 August at its campus in Bogor. The event, supported by FORCLIME, aimed to share and disseminate the Center’s knowledge and innovations to show potential usage for improving sustainable forestry. The event was attended by 30 participants, which represented Forest Management Units (KPH) and Provincial Forestry Services from FORCLIME working areas (West, East and North Kalimantan, and Central Sulawesi). The participants had the opportunity to visit the Center’s facilities and to get to know the Center’s various research areas.
The event showed clearly that research results can lead to the implementation of innovations which strengthen and improve forest resource management in the Forest Management Units (KPH).

With the aim to improve the training curriculum related to social forestry, the Training Center for Environment and Forestry (BD LHK) of Samarinda conducted a discussion on 15 September 2017 in Samarinda, East Kalimantan. The improved curriculum be better adapted to local contexts and practicabilities. The event, supported by FORCLIME, was attended by 30 participants representing the BD LHK Samarinda, the Technical Implementation Units of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, East Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service and NGOs.
Topics discussed during the meeting included: (1) Preparation of business plans for social forestry products; (2) Village forest management and (3) Development of plants below trees and for silvo-fishery.
The results will be submitted to the Community Training Center, Ministry of Environment and Forestry for review and approval. The curriculum is expected to be applicable for trainings in 2018.

The Human Resources Training Center of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Pusdiklat SDM KLHK) in cooperation with FORCLIME conducted a workshop on Preparation of Forestry Profession Certification Scheme on 25-26 September 2017 in Bogor. The workshop aimed to develop a professional certification scheme that will become priority in Indonesia's forest sector labor market. This certification scheme is required to demonstrate competence in order to fill certain positions. The workshop participants, 50 people in total, included representatives of Pusdiklat SDM KLHK, experts and practitioners of the forestry sector, as well as representatives from private forestry companies.
The workshop’s outcome is the developed certification scheme for 26 positions, which will be submitted to the National Agency for Certification of Professions (BNSP) for approval, and will be followed up with the competency test material development.
