The Head of the Environment and Forest Training Center of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Pusat Diklat SDM KLHK) opened a workshop on Post-Training Evaluation Method on 21-22 November in Bogor. The event, supported by FORCLIME, aimed to improve the capacity of the lecturers (widyaiswara) to conduct post-training evaluation to measure the effectiveness of a training in order to achieve continuous improvement. The workshop, with speakers from the State Administration Institute (LAN), was attended by 40 lecturers from the Pusat Diklat SDM KLHK and the Bogor Training and Education Agency (BD LHK Bogor).

During his speech, the Head of Pusat Diklat LHK said that a lecturer must have the competence to teach and train civil servants. Also, a lecturer should be able to conduct research related to the training, develop new innovation concepts and provide input for policy improvement (policy advocacy).

As a follow-up of this workshop, Pusat Diklat LHK will improve the Guidelines for Post-Training Evaluation based on the inputs during the workshop.

As early as in the year 2010 FORCLIME started to support the inhabitants of Menua Sadap village to apply for recognition of a village forest of 1.395 ha to start community-based forest management (CBFM) in own responsibility. With a long process, determination of Working Area (PAK) of Menua Sadap Village Forest has been published in 2014 by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the permission finally granted on May 29th, 2017. Only recently, on November 9th 2017 the decree containing the “right on management of village forest” (Hak Pengelolaan Hutan Desa) was handed over to Menua Sadap village forest management board (LPHD) by the governor of West Kalimantan Mr. Cornelis in Pontianak on the occasion of a big workshop on social forestry topics. This means that legal rights on forest management are transferred to the community now and further activities can be started. This will be facilitated by FORCLIME in terms of capacity building on management competencies, non-timber forest products and other vital issues.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the Directorate of Planning and Establishment of Forest Management Areas (RPPWPH) conducted a training on operating and updating a new spatial information system related to Forest Management Units (Sinpasdok KPH) on 15-16 November in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The training aims to disseminate the Application of Sinpasdok KPH+ as the new innovation in managing and updating data that is operated by Forest Management Unit (KPH) managers and controlled  at central level. The event, supported by GIZ, was attended by 50 participants representing forestry agencies in West Kalimantan, including forest management units (KPH), provincial forestry services and technical implementation units of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

During his speech, the Head of the West Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service emphasizes the commitment for establishing successful, independent and advanced Forest Management Units. Furthermore, he suggested to use Sinpasdok as information media to support forest management implementation at the site level.
