From the 4th until the 8th of September FORCLIME in cooperation with the University of Indonesia facilitated an exchange between senior members of the Indonesian parliament, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, BAPPENAS and the district governments of Berau (East Kalimantan), Kapuas Hulu (West Kalimantan) and Sigi (Central Sulawesi) with senior Indian experts in Dehradhun and New Delhi. The 17-person delegation spoke to the stakeholders involved in the 14th Financial Commission on the land mark decision to include forest cover in the devolution formula specifying how much domestic funds are transferred from central level to state level. Through this decision putting more weight on forest conservation within this financial transfer mechanism an estimated six billion US dollars are being transfers yearly to local level as unconditional funds based on the performance of states in forest conservation.

The Forestry Service of West Kalimantan Province conducted a training on the Preparation of Long-term Management Plans of Forest Management Units (FMUs) on 23-27 July in Pontianak. The training was supported by FORCLIME and the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) and was attended by 34 participants, including the Heads of FMUs and the Heads of the Department of Planning and Utilization from 17 different FMUs in West Kalimantan. The output of the training was the preparation of drafts of forest management plans for each FMU.
During the training, participants were coached in improving their understanding on forest planning concepts, which included relevant regulations and frameworks. Additionally, the participants were supported in preparing forest management documents.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the Directorate of Forest Planning, Land Use and Establishment of Area Management, set up a working team to integrate the national forestry plan (RKTN) with the Forest Management Unit (KPH) plans through a decree issued on 6 June 2017 and recently published.
The working team, chaired by the Director of Forest Planning, Land Use and Establishment of Area Management, assigned to collect data and information for the integration process, prepare progress reports and integration reports.
In order to promote sustainable forest management FORCLIME has supported the KPH development through a publication series on KPHs since 2008.
