In an effort to increase the motivation of small and medium business enterprises (SMEs), the Central Sulawesi Forestry Service, supported by FORCLIME, recently held a training session on self-development (achievement motivation training - AMT). This two-day session was held on 12 – 13 June 2024 and was opened by the Secretary of the Central Sulawesi Forestry Service, Mr. Abdul Rahman, S.Hut. The training was attended by 25 participants who were representing various micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) drawn from both Forest Farmer Groups (KTH) and Social Forestry Groups (KPS) that are already producing non-timber forest products. Through this AMT training, participants are expected to be able to explore their potentials, maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses so that they will ultimately be able to become high-achieving individuals. This AMT training is capable of producing the characteristics of tough entrepreneurs who do not complain, always think positively, are independent and competitive, and possess outstanding morals that will allow them to achieve increases in the productivity of their businesses.
Through the AMT training, the participants gained various types of knowledge, including:
• Introduction to AMT. Participants get to know themselves, learn how to improve their skills and learn from their own experiences and the successes of others.
• Inventory of Social Reactions (IRS), which is used to determine an individual's personality and abilities. From this session, participants gain knowledge of three types of social motives: the need for achievement, the need for affiliation and the need for power, all of which can be used to handle problems, establish relationships (socialize) and control others.
After completion of this training, participants will be required to share the knowledge they have gained with other group members so that understanding and knowledge are evenly distributed among all members.

The Environment and Forestry Human Resources Training Center (EF HR Training Center) at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) has various plans and targets in place that aim to meet the training needs of state civil servants (ASN) and non-ASN on a wider scale. For this reason, the EF HR Training Center is developing a series of massive open online courses (MOOC), which is viewed as an effective solution for the organization of long-distance training for ASN at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, which currently number almost 16,000 people.
In line with this plan, the EF HR Training Center conducted an assessment study that specifically addressed MOOC development in March 2024. A series of activities were carried out during the assessment, including workshops, interviews and discussions with stakeholders. The study was carried out by Common Sense, a consulting agency that has more than 20 years of experience in the development of digital learning capacity and the creation of learning content.
The results of the study were presented online to the Head of the EF HR Training Center and her staff on 7 June 2024. During this presentation, Common Sense announced the results of the assessment study, which encompassed the readiness of human resources, expectations from Pudiklat management and stakeholders, and the available technological capacity. Discussions were also held during the event in order to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the study results.
As a follow-up, a training session for trainers will be held for Widyaiswara (lecturers) and the eLearning Team at the EF HR Training Center and the Environment and Forestry Training Center (BP LHK). In addition, a number of discussions will also be held in order to develop a roadmap for the implementation of open online training (MOOC) at the Environment and Forestry HR Training Center.
