On the 18th and 19th of July, the firefighting brigade of the forest management units (KPH) of Kapuas Hulu Timur and Kapuas Hulu Utara received a training from the Manggala Agni in Putussibau, West Kalimantan. The Manggala Agni is the Indonesian Forest Fire Control Brigade, which was formed in order to carry out forest fire control tasks including prevention, suppression, and post-fire management of forests. This training aimed to familiarize the firefighting brigade with new equipment provided by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The training also informed the brigade on better preparation measures for the dry season. Before the training came to an end each group had to show their new skills by fighting a fire. This was closely monitored by the instructors in terms of leadership, teamwork, communication and handling the equipment.

During the dissemination information on agroforestry and organic fertilizers in Antutan village at the end of 2019, several farmers expressed interest in learning more about producing organic pesticides and fertilizers. Therefore, with the support of FORCLIME, the Forest Management Unit (KPH) of Bulungan and Antutan Village conducted a training on agroforestry and organic pesticide production on July 14 - 15, 2020 in Antutan village, North Kalimantan. The trainers were experts from the Association of Agroforestry Extension Workers in Malinau (IPAMA) and the training center of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Samarinda (BDLHK Samarinda). The training structure followed a ‘blended’ method, with theoretical topics covered online, and practical teachings carried out in the field. Participants gathered in the village office of Desa Antutan to attend the online session.
Farmers were taught the concept of organic agroforestry, and learned how to produce their own organic pesticide and its importance for healthy farming. The participants were also introduced to agroforestry and charcoal making.
