In order to support ecotourism development in the Tabo-Tabo Education and Training Forest, the Environment and Forestry Education and Training Center, the Environmental Generation Development Center and FORCLIME held a technical guidance session on the Development of Eco Edu Tourism in the forest area and its surroundings at the Tabo-Tabo Education and Training Forest Campus from 26 - 28 July 2022. The objective of this activity was to increase the capacities of stakeholders so that they will be able to manage eco-tourism in an environmentally friendly manner within the Tabo-Tabo area. The training session was attended by 30 participants who were representatives of the Tourism Village Forest Farmers Group (Deswita), as well as field assistants from BD LHK Makassar, members of the Tinambung Forest Farmers Group in Bisoloro-Gowa Village and the Tabo-Tabo Village Government. The resource personnel for this training session comprised BD LHK Makassar, the Center for Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships (BPSKL) for the Sulawesi Region, FORCLIME, tourism managers working in Bisoloro and consultants from the East Java Ecotourism Forum (EJEF).

The materials presented during this technical guidance session encompassed:
• Government policies on the development of ecotourism.
• Institutional management of ecotourism.
• Management of ecotourism areas.
• Development of ecotourism products.
• Marketing of ecotourism products.
• Preparation of action plans.

On the second day of the session, participants visited and spoke with community-based ecotourism managers in Bisoloro Village, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. On the final day of the session, participants identified the support needed in order to follow up on the technical guidance, which include the following:
• The Deswita group requires mentors, particularly BD LHK Makassar empowerment facilitators.
• A cooperation agreement should be prepared in order to ensure legal certainty in relation to the development of ecotourism in Tabo-Tabo.
• Capacity building (including training, internships and mentoring) should be developed for Deswita members in relation to various aspects of ecotourism.
• An ecotourism development plan should be drawn up for the village of Tabo-Tabo.
• Signposts are required in order to support the promotion of ecotourism in Tabo-Tabo.
• A working secretariat should be put in place for ecotourism development purposes.

In an effort to develop synergy in relation to the development of the Social Forestry programme, FORCLIME conducted a visit and dialogue with the Center for Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships (BPSKL) for the Maluku and Papua regions in Ambon, Maluku on 25 - 26 July 2022. In his speech, the Head of BPSKL Maluku Papua, Yusup, SP, M.Si, said that BPSKL welcomed this visit and dialogue and explained that one of the challenges in terms of developing the Social Forestry programme in Papua was the limited number and quality of facilitators and the scattered distribution of assisted areas. There are currently around 22 independent Social Forestry facilitators in West Papua, while in Papua Province only three facilitators are currently working out of a planned 17.

During the dialogue, FORCLIME affirmed that three months ago, assistance was granted in nine villages recommended by FORCLIME partners in the regions. The most recent data obtained from BPSKL shows that of the four FORCLIME-assisted villages in West Papua, two villages have already secured Social Forestry permits, specifically the villages of Wendi and Haha in South Sorong. It was therefore agreed to make these villages pilot villages for the Social Forestry Programme.

The Head of BPSKL Maluku and Papua explained that the Activity Performance Indicators (IKK) and Main Performance Indicators (IKU) were focusing on the preparation of the Social Forestry Management Plan (RKPS) for approved social forestry management holders, as well as the strengthening of business capacity and the strengthening of the capacities of facilitators. Based on this, several collaborative initiatives have been planned between FORCLIME and BPSKL Maluku and Papua for the second semester of 2022, including:

• Coordination meeting of the Social Forestry Working Group in West Papua.
• Integration of FORCLIME counterpart data into the BPSKL Maluku and Papua self-help assistance database.
• Information sharing and the integration of reporting by FORCLIME facilitators into the Maluku and Papua BPSKL reporting systems.
• Involvement of BPSKL staff and assistants in self-employment training, digital marketing and other relevant training.
• Development of training modules for the inventorizing of forest resource potential for social forestry permit holders or Forest Farmers Groups (KTH).
• Involvement of BPSKL as resource personnel for the training and debriefing of FORCLIME apprentices.
• Facilitation by BPSKL in relation to the registration of FORCLIME assistants in order to secure certificates as forestry extension workers or community self-help assistants (PKSM) as PS assistants.

Meanwhile, potential cooperation for 2023 includes:

o The organization of coordination meetings in Papua Province.
o Preparation of modules and training relating to the preparation of Social Forestry Work Management Plans (RKPS) for social forestry facilitators.
o Involvement of BPSKL staff and assistants in training and field activities organized by FORCLIME.
o Sharing of information between FORCLIME and BPSKL Maluku and Papua

Following up on the results of a previous meeting on the joint work plan for 2022, FORCLIME recently held a meeting with the Gender Sub-WG from the Directorate-General of Human Resources Extension and Development (Badan Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia - BP2SDM) in order to discuss the implementation of two joint activities, specifically the development of a pocketbook for gender-responsive forestry extension workers and storytelling on gender mainstreaming in practice. The meeting was held online on 22 July 2022 and was attended by 25 participants from various BP2SDM working units. The meeting was opened by the Head of the Programme, Evaluation, Legal and Technical Cooperation Section at the BP2SDM Secretariat, Mr. Gun Gun Hidayat, Ph.D., and continued with an address given by the Strategic Area Manager for Human Capacity Development at FORCLIME, Mr. Edy Marbyanto.

During the discussion, a person in charge was designated for the development of the new pocketbook, as was a timeline for the book‘s implementation and an overview of the book’s content, which will include an extension strategy and the role of extension workers in achieving FOLU Net Sink 2030 based on gender mainstreaming. The writing process for the pocketbook will be led by the BP2SDM Extension Center (Pusat Penyuluhan). Meanwhile, the plan is to leave the development of storytelling books open to all employees of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through the use of the call-for-writing method. In this regard, any participants who submit draft writing will be provided with training prior to the submission of their full articles.
