As of 31 October 2011, the FORCLIME photo contest has concluded. It was a great success. We received the sensational number of 2617 photos. Our special thanks go to all photographers who uploaded their pictures. And many thanks to the great community of forest enthusiasts who supported our contest by casting their votes.

On mid December the winning photos will be displayed on a Photo Exhibition that will be opened by the Minister of Forestry at Manggala Wanabakti building. During the occasion, the Minister will also handed the certificate to the winners.
This photo contest is a joint event between the Ministry of Forestry and the GIZ Forests and Climate Change Programme (FORCLIME) to celebrate the International Year of Forests 2011.
GIZ development worker and FORCLIME team member Dr. Markus Müller received the Best Paper Presentation Award at Asia Geospatial Forum on 19th October 2011. Asia Geospatial Forum (http:// www.asiageospatialforum.org/) is an annual conference that provides a platform for the GIS community to share ideas and advance convergence of geospatial information and technologies. This year it took place in Jakarta from 17 - 19 October and offered more than 50 presentations of papers from participants all over Asia.
Dr. Markus Müller, Senior Advisor on GIS and REDD+, presented one of his advisory activities at the Provincial Forestry Service of West Kalimantan. The title of his presentation was "Development of a Web-based Forestry Information System using Open Source Software", in which he described technical as well as organisational aspects of his work during the last three years. The website of the forestry information system which is operated by staff of the Forestry Service and supported by GIZ can be accessed at http://kehutanan.kalbarprov.go.id.
As of 19 October 2011, the FORCLIME photo contest has crossed the magic borderline of 2000 entries, still counting.

Please mark the date: The winners will be announced officially on 16th November during an award ceremony, which will be organised in the overall context of the launch of Goethe Institute’s Science Film Festival. We will announce time and venue in due time, once everything is confirmed.
Please also note that the launch of the exhibition of winning photographs is scheduled for 18th November at the Ministry of Forestry, Manggala Wanabakti. Again, we will confirm date, time and venue in due time.
