2024 08 22 Evaluation and Consolidation Meeting for 2023 KLHK SDGs Achievement Data fn

According to the results of recent assessments that were carried out by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment on the implementation of the various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that it is responsible for, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) stood out with the highest number of green indicators, achieving success in 20 areas. However, the KLHK also faced challenges, with nine indicators in the red, indicating that substantial work will be needed in order to meet the applicable targets. Nevertheless, as of August 2024, the KLHK had made significant progress in its efforts to achieve its SDGs.

With the goal of evaluating and consolidating data relating to the SDG achievements, the KLHK held a meeting that was organized by the Planning Bureau and supported by FORCLIME on 22 August 2024 at the Manggala Wanabakti building in Jakarta. The meeting was led by the Head of Planning Bureau, Dr. Edi Sulistyo Heri Susetyo, and was attended by representatives from Management of Waste, Sewage and Hazardous and Toxic Materials (PSLB3), Watershed Management and Forest Rehabilitation (PDASRH), Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation (KSDAE), Climate Change Management (PPI) and the Environment and Forestry Standardization and Instrumentation Agency. The moderator for the meeting was a ministerial expert in SDGs and energy policy.

The meeting’s objectives included:
• Synchronization and gathering of up-to-date data on SDG indicators for 2023.
• Identification and strategizing of follow-up actions for underperforming indicators.
• Enhancement of collaboration among departments in order to improve overall SDG performance.

The meeting was seen as essential in terms of the fulfillment of Indonesia's international commitments and ensuring sustainable environmental management. Through this activity, the Ministry is hoping to solidify its role as a leader in environmental stewardship and sustainable development, while addressing gaps that might hinder progress towards the 2030 Agenda.
