The Berau Barat Forest Management Unit (KPH Berau Barat) supports the Batu Rajang community in preparing a proposal for a Forestry Partnership with the forest concession PT Inhutani I Labanan. An official letter signed by the forest concession management was issued and sent to the Minister for Environment and Forestry (MLHK) and the Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnerships on July 19, 2019. The proposed activities for the Forestry Partnership are crop plantation and agriculture practices within the area of the forest concession. The Forestry Partnership scheme refers to the MLHK’s decree No. P.83 /MenLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/10/2016 concerning Social Forestry and the decree of the Director General of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership No. P.18/PSKL/SET/PSL.0/12/2016 concerning Guidelines for the Preparation of Cooperation Agreement Documents (NKK). After the letter was submitted to the MLHK, the validation and verification processes of the proposed partnership will be carried out by the Team from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, which then will be continued with dialogues about the cooperation agreement. The process to accelerate the legal basis on Forestry Partnership of the Kampung Batu Rajang is promoted by KPH Berau Barat and supported by FORCLIME.
