The Malinau Forest Management Unit Model (KPH Model Malinau) in collaboration with FORCLIME conducted a meeting about the development process of the long-term management plan (RPHJP) on 23 May 2019 in Malinau, North Kalimantan. FORCLIME supports the KPH model Malinau to improve the process of establishing RPHJP. The FMU elaborates the actions to be taken in the future, keeping in mind the corresponding strategies to implement biodiversity conservation, forest management and climate change activities (REDD+), community based forest management, and the integration of SDGs.
To support forestry operations in Forest Management Units (FMU), the RPHJP is of key importance. The RPHJP is a written document that describes all the relevant external and internal elements (SWOT analysis) involved in starting sustainable forest management.
The principal of the RPHJP team, Head of Planning Section, Mr Apriansyah stated that, “There are five units of RPHJP which the KPH Model Malinau is obligated to plan for within the forest areas of Malinau. In 2017, the first RPHJP signed by Ministry of Environment and Forestry was for the RPHJP Unit X Malinau. Starting in May to October 2019, the FMU is making adequate preparation for the long-term management plan, RPHJP Unit II, Malinau Utara".
