Following up on a workshop that was held to improve the overall quality of environmental and forestry statistics in line with public policy, the Data and Information Center of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry recently held a meeting on data sharing and collaboration at the Ministry. This One Data Forum meeting was held on 20 August 2024 at the Manggala Wanabakti building in Jakarta and was opened and led by the Head of Data and Information Division at the Data and Information Center, Firman Maulana, S.Pi., M. SEP. The goal of the meeting was to enhance collaboration and improve data synchronization within the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to support the realization of an improved One Data Indonesia (Satu Data Indonesia-SDI) initiative.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the progress of the Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics (FDES) assessments and the finalization of the draft 2023 Ministry statistics book.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the significance of data in supporting evidence-based decision-making within the environmental and forestry sectors. In this regard improved data management practices can lead to more informed decision-making, improved allocations of resources and ultimately, more effective environmental and forestry conservation efforts. The meeting participants agreed on the need for continued collaboration and improvement in data management practices in order to achieve the goals of the One Data Indonesia initiative.
