The Environment and Forestry HR Training Center and the Environment and Forestry (E&F) Training Center, working in conjunction with FORCLIME, recently developed a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the implementation of eLearning at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF). The SOP was developed during a workshop that was held in Bogor on 7 - 8 August 2023 and which was attended by around 50 participants that comprised structural officials, lecturers (widyaiswara) and administrative staff from the E&F HR Training Center and E&F Training Center. The preparation of the SOP was assisted by Common Sense, a consulting agency with experience in the development of digital learning capacity and the creation of learning content.

Important issues discussed during this workshop included: 1) Determining goals and indicators for eLearning and its processes; 2) Gaining a clear understanding of the different roles and roles of parties; 3) Understanding the various eLearning cycles; and 4) Collecting relevant information as a basis for the preparation of SOPs.

During the opening session, the Head of the E&F HR Training Center, Mrs. Dr. Kusdamayanti, expressed her gratitude to GIZ for faithfully overseeing and helping with the eLearning programme at the E&F HR Training Center since 2014. “The Human Resources Extension and Development Agency (BP2SDM) is currently preparing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on the topic of Gender Mainstreaming (PUG). Once this eLearning SOP is complete, this new course can be implemented, while GIZ will continue to support MOOC development in the future,” explained Mrs. Kusdamayanti.

The workshop on preparation of the eLearning SOP will follow by a similar activity, which will be took place in Makassar on 10 August 2023 and which specifically discussed the SOP on the implementation of eLearning at the E&F Training Center level. The Makassar event will invite structural officials, lecturers (widyaiswara), administrative staff from the Makassar E&F Training Center and teachers from the Makassar State Forestry Vocational School.

The results of this eLearning SOP will be documented in an eLearning guidebook, which will subsequently be used as a guide during the development of eLearning development at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
