The Provincial Government of West Kalimantan is currently drawing up a climate funding proposal in conjunction with the Green Climate Fund (GCF). In order to prepare the various parties who will be involved with the proposal, the West Kalimantan Provincial Government recently held a series of public consultations across five districts, specifically Ketapang on 15 - 17 May 2023, Kubu Raya on 19 - 20 May 2023, Sintang Regency on 22 - 23 May 2023, Sanggau on 23 - 26 May 2023 and Kapuas Hulu on 29 - 30 May 2023. The purpose of this activity was to convey the progress of the preparation of the GCF feasibility study document and climate financing proposal to stakeholders at the district level, as well as to discuss the preparation of documents that address the social and environmental safeguard framework, in addition to addressing various gender assessments and action plans.

The implementation of public consultations within each district was opened by the relevant District Secretaries or the Heads of the District Planning Agency (Bappeda). Moreover, in addition to being attended by representatives from the West Kalimantan Provincial Government, the public consultation was also attended by regional apparatuses and development partners from the relevant districts.
