2023 06 06 Workshop dan Launcing SK Panitia MHA Kabupaten Tambrauw ny 1

The Regional Government of Tambrauw Regency announced the publication of the Tambrauw Regency Conservation and Customary Law Community Master Plan document during a recent workshop that was held on 6 June 2023 in the office of the Tambrauw planning agency (Bappeda) in Southwest Papua. The event, which was opened by Assistant II to the Regional Secretary (Setda) for the Economic Development of Tambrauw Regency, Mr. Abdul Malik Kastella, SH., was attended by various government agencies and sub-district heads from Tambrauw Regency. In addition, a number of Tambrauw Regency development partners were also present, including the University of Papua, Samdhana Institute, Yayasan Konservasi Indonesia, Flora Fauna International, Econusa, Akawoun, Pioner and Urdi, as well as FORCLIME, a project that implementing the bilateral programme.

During the workshop, an official Decree of the Regent of Tambrauw that addressed the Tambrauw Regency Customary Law Community Committee was announced. In addition, the Tambrauw Development Partner Secretariat, which is located in the Bappeda office, was also launched during the workshop. This new secretariat is expected to be able to facilitate coordination and communication between development partners and related agencies.

During the workshop, the development partners presented their planned activities and action plans for 2023. Meanwhile, FORCLIME offered a summary of various activities that have already been completed, that are currently being carried out and that are planned for the future, including:

1. Support for the preparation of the Long Term Forest Management Plan of the Tambrauw Forest Management Unit (KPH Tambrauw), the activities of which have been divided into three main areas:

  • Inventory of bio-geophysical and socio-economic potential in the KPH Tambrauw area. In this regard, survey activities were completed from January – February 2023 and a final report is currently being prepared.
  • Spatial analysis of forest planning, including block and plot arrangements, which will be implemented during 2023.
  • Preparation of the Long Term Forest Management Plan (RPHJP) document, which will be implemented during 2023.

2. Support for the preparation of RPHJP in the Pantai Sausapor Natural Reserve (ongoing).
3. Support for forest farmer groups in Bikar village in the sub-district of Bikar and in Emmaus village in the sub-district of Sausapor that is addressing the capacity building of institutional management, area management and business management as they relate to the utilization of non-timber forest products and environmental services in each supported village.
