In an effort to realize their joint activity plan, the West Papua Natural Resources Conservation Center (Balai BKSDA) and FORCLIME recently held a meeting to draw up a work plan for 2023. The meeting was held online on 28 February 2023 and was led by the Head of the Technical Division of the Balai BKSDA, Mr. Tasliman, S.P., M.P. During the meeting it was agreed that several activities would be implemented this year, including:
- Preparation of a Long-Term Management Plan (RPJP) for the Nature Reserve (CA) at Pantai Sausapor. In relation to this planned activity, FORCLIME will support the finalization of the RPJP document which is currently being reviewed by a team from Papua University. In addition, FORCLIME will also support the implementation of a public consultation, which is planned for May or June 2023.
- Implementation of a conservation area assessment through the application of the Management Effectiveness Tracking Tools (METT) approach. In terms of this activity, FORCLIME will support the implementation of METT in certain areas, including CA Pulau Misool, CA Pulau Salawati, CA Pantai Sausapor, CA North Tambrauw Mountains and the Beriat Nature Park. This activity should be implemented in Sorong in June or August 2023.
- Preparation of a book on Conservation Areas in West Papua Province. FORCLIME will support the development and printing of the book, the final draft of which will hopefully be presented to the Director-General of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Conservation at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in May 2023.
