Continuing the preparation of the Master Plan for Conservation District and Customary Law Communities in Tambrauw Regency, the Tambrauw Regency Provincial Government (Pemkab) held a coordination and synchronization meeting for partners in Tambrauw Regency. The Tambrauw Regency Development Partners are led by the Tambrauw Regency Government and consist of NGOs, universities, the private sector, NGOs, and other parties involved in the development of Tambrauw Regency. FORCLIME, which has started activities in Tambrauw Regency since the end of 2021, as a programme that implements bilateral cooperation, was also invited to the event.
The meeting was held on 2 February 2023 in Manokwari, West Papua and was opened by the Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Development Agency of Tambrauw Regency, Mr. Muosche Woria, S.IP., M.IP. In his speech, Mr. Woria stated that the programme plans of the various partners will be incorporated into the master plan document and that this synchronization represents an example of a development collaboration that is initiated without sacrificing the rights of customary communities.
Thirty-five development partner participants were present at the meeting and presented their respective programmes, which are planned for implementation during 2023. For its part, FORCLIME also presented the various priority activities that it is planning to implement, including support for the development of the management plan of the Tambrauw Forest Management Unit and Tambrauw Nature Reserve, and continuing support for Forest Farmers Groups in the villages of Bikar and Emaus, which will address the utilization of non-timber forest products and environmental services.
The meeting resulted in the development of the Tambrauw Regency Development Partner Indicator Matrix, which will be integrated into the master plan document. The writing team will then go on to finalize the document, while the handover of the master plan document from the writing team to the Tambrauw Regency Government is planned to take place in March. The Tambrauw Regency Conservation and Customary Community Masterplan will then become a main element of the Tambrauw Regency Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) 2025-2029, as well as other planning documents that will be used in relation to the Tambrauw Regency.
