As a follow-up to the identification of FORCLIME-supported villages in the KPHK Cycloop – Youtefa area, the Center for Conservation and Natural Resources (BBKSDA) Papua held a coordination meeting with FORCLIME and KPHK Cycloop – Youtefa on 10 December 2021 at the BBKSDA Papua office. During the meeting, the results of various field visits and determinations of FORCLIME and BBKSDA Papua joint pilot villages were discussed. The meeting was opened by the Head of BBKSDA Papua, Mr Edward Sembiring, S.Hut., M.Sc.
Based on the meeting’s discussions and a number of other considerations, BBKSDA Papua ultimately recommended Tablasupa and Doyo Baru as joint pilot villages. BBKSDA Papua also highlighted the importance of cooperation with local universities in terms of the development of Social Forestry Groups, particularly social scientists and anthropologists who are able to facilitate understanding of the cultural characteristics of local communities.
The next step will be to formulate a program of activities for the two villages and to determine a suitable assistance model.
