FORCLIME and the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Papua (Unipa) have been collaborating since 2019 through a FORCLIME internship programme for Unipa students and new graduates. As of 2021, some 20 new Unipa graduates commenced internships at FORCLIME and this collaboration is set to continue for the duration of the implementation of FORCLIME 4.0 in Tanah Papua. In order to determine the various activities that they will implement together through the programme in the future, the Unipa Faculty of Forestry and FORCLIME held a coordination meeting on 17 December 2021, which concluded with the signing of meeting minutes with an eye on various synergies throughout 2022.
These synergies include, among others, community empowerment activities in FORCLIME supported villages associated with the community service programme (kuliah kerja nyata - KKN), support for training in English scientific writing (through scientific journals and articles), support for training in media and information management, and support for the establishment of the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA).
“On behalf of the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Papua, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to FORCLIME. Hopefully, this collaboration reflects our respective capacities and is supporting forestry development within West Papua,” affirmed Dr. Jonni Marwah, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Papua.
