With the intention of synergizing activities relating to gender mainstreaming (PUG) at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF), the Human Resources Extension and Development Agency (BP2SDM), in conjunction with FORCLIME, held a coordination meeting on 13 October 2021 aimed at seeking agreement on various focused joint activities. The meeting was held in the meeting room of the BP2SDM Secretariat at the Manggala Wanabhakti building in Jakarta and was opened by Mr. Gun Gun Hidayat, Ph.D., the Head of the Programme and Cooperation department at the Secretariat of the BP2SDM. The meeting attendees agreed to focus on the following activities:
1. Improving the indicator criteria for gender-responsive education and training institutions.
2. Development of a Gender Analysis Pathway (GAP) and Gender Budget System (GBS).
3. Development of a storybook containing practical experiences relating to the implementation of PUG activities.
4. Development of a gender-responsive pocketbook for extension workers.
5. Creation of a series of board games: “Gender in Forestry and Environment”.
6. Development of a gender-responsive curriculum for education/schools.
Some of the above activities are likely to be implemented before the end of 2021. For example, the preparation of indicator criteria for gender-responsive education and training institutions is currently in the refinement stage and is set for internal completion by BP2SDM. In addition, the preparation of the GAP and GBS are also set for completion this year and are currently undergoing processes of review and improvement. The remaining activities will be introduced next year.
