Biodiversity Day
Term Of Reference
Biological Diversity or biodiversity can be described the diversity of life on earth. Biodiversity is frequently understood to refer simply to the variety of species on the planet or the complete variety of life on earth. The Convention on Biological Biodiversity (CBD) defines biodiversity as, “the variability among living organism and the ecological complexes of which they are part, including the diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems”.
Biodiversity directly affects the quality and quantity of ecosystems services provided, such as carbon sequestration, watershed protection, soil fertility, recycling nutrients, control of erosion and pollination of crops and trees.
Since UN had decided on 22 May each year as a World Biodiversity Day and MRPP is initiating a program/activity for 2010 commemoration. The event will be held in Palembang. And we are communicating with Pemkab MUBA for possible tree planting event in some schools in Sekayu or Merang (project location).
To do the planning for the event, MRPP initiated and invited the stakeholders for a planning meeting.
Sorry, by Invitation only.
